Why Jazz Matters

Join us for a captivating exploration into the essence of jazz music and its significant role in 20th century history. The class will led by Jazz St. Louis’ Director and Manager of Education and Community Engagement, Adaron Jackson and Dr. Travis Lewis, and will feature a variety of special guest speakers, including JSL’s President and CEO, Victor Goines. We will delve into the evolution of jazz and illuminate its impact on social and political arenas. Special emphasis will be placed on the works of Sherman Irby, culminating in a live performance by the artist at Jazz St. Louis on May 16th; a $40 activity fee is included for this field trip.
Please note that due to the field trip we will return to OLLI at approximately 1 p.m. on May 16.
