The Story of Us (Part 2)

Thursdays, 10 a.m. - Noon

Facilitators: Marlene Katz, Anne Korb

In this course, we will learn how our species, Homo sapiens, rose to the top of the food chain and began to spread all over the planet. We will discuss the cognitive revolution that enabled us to develop language and other abilities, including the most important one for our success as a species: the ability to work cooperatively towards a common goal. We will examine the social structure in which our species lived for 95% of its existence – the tribe – considering the implications of modern humans having retained a deep need for belonging in a world that values independence and self-sufficiency.
