Art & Environmentalism
Thursdays, 10 am - Noon
Facilitator: Jose’ Garza
Dive into environmentalism through deep engagement with works of art in Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. We will consider how and why artists address environmental concerns through their work and the effects of stylistic choices from materials to scale on us as viewers and inhabitants of a shared Earth. Class time will be spent in group discussion, journaling, and artmaking, with optional readings connected to each week’s topic to be completed outside of class.
