World Mythology
Mondays, 10 am - Noon
Facilitator: Barbara Osburg
Joseph Campbell defines myths as the stories that we tell to help us deal with the most profound, disturbing, and wondrous aspects of human existence. These include stories from both living and dead religions, as well as folktales, fairy tales and urban legends. Using the video series of Joseph Campbell’s The Power of Myth as a framework, the course will present a theme for each week and then explore various stories that echo that theme. World myths, not just Greek and Roman, will be introduced and discussed, and world epics presented.
