The Story of Us (Part 3)

Thursdays, 10 am - Noon

Facilitators: Marlene Katz, Anne Korb

This course is a multidisciplinary look at our species. In Part One we started with the big bang and ended with the arrival of Homo sapiens. In Part Two we learned about the development of agriculture and its impact on human societies and earth’s ecosystems. Part Three takes us from the beginnings of the industrial revolution to the present day. As the dominant species on this planet, we have unintentionally driven many species to extinction. Now we are facing the consequences of powering our world with fossil fuels. This era will be the biggest test for our species to adapt and learn from our mistakes. We will end with a positive outlook by learning about how we are already adapting to the biggest problem for our species, climate change.
