Let’s Tell! The Ancient Art of Storytelling
Wednesdays, 10 am - 12 pm
Facilitator: January Kiefer
We’ll have fun as we explore the characteristics and techniques of effective storytelling. Working with folk-tales, myths, memoir, and fiction, class-members will have the opportunity to develop and tell four stories. We’ll begin by approaching the spoken word as a kind of musical language, and look at the nature of the oral/aural world of non-literary cultures. Then we’ll explore the relationship between the spoken and the written word and play with elements common to both – especially POV (point of view,) descriptive language, and dialogue. Every other week will be show-time!
