Islamic Art and Architecture

Join us to explore the multiple artistic and architectural traditions across the world of Islam over a millennium and a half. First, we will discuss Calligraphy and the Arts of the Book, delving into the vast treasury of ‘Islamicate’ masterpieces visualizing multiple literary forms in languages including Arabic, Persian, and Turkish. In the second half, we will travel from Spain through the Middle East and into regions of Central and South Asia historically home to spectacular Muslim architectural masterpieces.
