A Cultural History of Interwar France: The “Crazy Years”

The end of World War I ushered in a period of optimism and economic prosperity in France. Paris shone as the center of western culture by attracting literary and artistic talents from all over the world. This course will offer a panorama of the artistic, musical, cinematographic, choreographic, and literary achievements of this period including Surrealism, Les Six, Chagall, Modigliani, Brancusi, Man Ray, Josephine Baker, and many, many more!
